A study just in says that 96% of hospital nurses enjoy waking patients up. There is no need to keep waking patients up for checks during the night, they just enjoy doing it. Many patients are then keen to get out of hospital so they can get a good night's sleep and recuperate.
One nurse said, "If I'm awake then they should be too, you have to teach the patient who the boss is and it's me with my hobnailed crocs or sensible trainers."
"There are a few perks to this job such as free kidney dishes, loads of grip socks and access to top quality drugs but it's the little things that make the job worthwhile like the look on a patient's face when they are woken up every hour."
Threatening catheters and telling patients to get their affairs in order is also something that medical staff enjoy doing too.
