Yes there were vampires and Lincoln did slay them. Andrew Jackson was the greatest of all US presidential vamp killers but when he got turned the already crazy Jackson had to be staked by Martin Van Buren ironically with Jackson's favourite stake Old Hickory, it was very sad.
Congrats to Lincoln for the nods, I hear that just to be nominated is a great honor .... well thats what all the losers say.
