Marvin Gaye Got Raped

Who knew that so many people liked the Robin Thicke song Blurred lines? Is it now acceptable to belittle weemen and glamorize rape if it loses a court case?

The blurred lines song and video are kinda sleazy and stupid. It objectified weemen in the worse way possible by implying that "no" doesn't really mean "no" and since pop stars are saying it then it must be true .... you know you want it.

Thicke and Pharrell Williams were sued for $7.4 million by the family of the late Marvin Gaye who said they ripped off one of his songs, Got to give it up. In interviews both men had said how the song inspired them .... Thicke later said he was on drink and drugs when he said that and really had little to do with the making of the song. Tell it to the judge, oh wait he did.

I don't like Thicke, he's a douchebag who is completely full of himself. Since the case, people have been outraged and have said this ruling removes a creative tool from the hands of artists. In other words they can't make shite songs ripped off from something they heard before. Er I mean be creative.

There have been countless songs that may remind you of other songs but that doesn't mean they were deliberate copies such as George Harrison's 'My sweet lord' and 'He's so fine.' A writer can come up with an idea of his/her own and while it may be a totally original thought to them they soon find out that Ray fucking Bradbury did it decades ago .... That man is the bane of Old Knudsen's life.

I do doubt that Thicke and Williams come up with any original thoughts though. Williams cut and paste Marvin Gaye into his life but stuck oversized hats on his head to be um, different.

Blurred lines and Got to give it up have a similar sound in the beat, the same vibe if you will and that is about it.
It was a stupid case and why should Marvin Gaye's family get the money? They didn't write the song, they are just cashing in on Gaye's abilities like Williams does. I would like to see this kind of court action make it to the movie business as so many movies rip off and repeat others that you already know what is going to happen, for instance the death of the funny side kick or the random out of the blue zombie bite just when everything was going well .... lest we forget.

So much has been done before but hey, lets at least try to be original now and again.
